Guide
From a product link to live Shopify page in four steps.
Everything you need to get the most out of Mercury Pages: generating, editing, AI images, publishing and troubleshooting.
Quick start
- Step 1
Paste a product link
From your dashboard, choose a page direction and paste a product URL from your own store, or from an officially licensed, supplier-authorized, or authorized dropshipped product. You must have proper permission to use the product information.
- Step 2
Let AI build the page
Mercury reads the product, pulls images, price and variants, then writes a conversion-focused title, description, benefits and FAQ.
- Step 3
Make it yours
Open the editor to reorder sections, rewrite copy, swap photos, and add AI-generated lifestyle or hero images.
- Step 4
Publish to Shopify
Connect your store once, then export. The product, images, price and full page layout land in Shopify in seconds.
Choosing a page direction
The direction sets section order, colors and tone of voice. You can change any of it later in the editor.
| Direction | Best for | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Modern Minimal | Tech, accessories, home goods | Clean layout that lets product photos lead. |
| Luxury Editorial | Beauty, jewelry, premium fashion | Story-first with high-contrast typography. |
| Bold DTC | Supplements, fitness, gadgets | Punchy benefits and strong calls to action. |
| Organic Lifestyle | Wellness, food, eco products | Warm tones and lifestyle storytelling. |

AI product images
- Select a hero, gallery or story section and click Generate with AI.
- Pick a purpose (hero, lifestyle, promo, editorial), a visual style and a format.
- Keep Match my real product on and choose the clearest product photo as reference.
- Optionally add art direction like “soft window light on a linen tablecloth”, then generate 1–3 variations.
- Pick your favorite and click Use selected. Every image is kept in History so you never lose one.
AI images are hosted by Mercury and included when you export to Shopify. Available on paid plans.
Publishing to Shopify
- Go to Shopify in the sidebar and enter your
your-store.myshopify.comdomain. - Approve the requested permissions in Shopify. No API keys or private apps needed.
- Click Export in the editor or on My Pages. Re-exporting updates the same product instead of creating duplicates.
- First time only: add the Mercury Pages block to your product template, as described below.
Adding the Mercury block to your theme
Needed once per store so Shopify displays your exported pages.
Open your product template
Click Open theme editor below. Shopify opens your live theme on the Default product template with the Mercury Pages block already added. Without the button: go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, then pick Products → Default product from the page selector at the top.
Check that the block is there
In the left sidebar, look under Template for Product page (Mercury Pages). If it's missing, click Add section, switch to the Apps tab and choose Product page.
Place it where you want
Drag the Mercury section so it sits right below Product information. That keeps the theme's photos, price and variant picker at the top, with your Mercury page underneath.
Avoid showing things twice
Click the Mercury block to open its settings. Turn off Show Mercury buy box if your theme already shows price and Add to cart. Optionally hide the theme's Description block inside Product information, since Mercury already shows that content.
Save
Click Save in the top-right corner. Your page is now live on the product. Every future export updates it automatically, so you only do this once per store.
Using a custom product template (for example product.landing)? Repeat these steps on that template too. Products only show the Mercury page on templates that include the block.
Plans and limits
The free plan includes 5 page generations per month. Paid plans unlock unlimited pages plus a monthly allowance of AI images. Limits reset on the 1st of every month.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Which product URLs work best?
A product page with a visible title, price and photos. Pages behind a login, cart pages, or category listings won't work. If a page fails, try the direct product URL without tracking parameters. Merchants must own or have permission to use the product information, images, and other content on the product page.
Why does my generation say it failed?
The source store may block automated reading, or the page may not contain product data. Failed generations don't count towards your monthly limit. Try again or use another listing of the same product.
Is my work saved automatically?
Yes. The editor autosaves a couple of seconds after you stop typing. You'll see Saved, Saving or Unsaved in the top bar, and Ctrl/Cmd+S saves instantly.
Why does Shopify only show the description?
Shopify needs the Mercury Pages block added to your product template once per store. After your first export, click Open theme editor in the export dialog. The block is pre-added, so you just press Save.
Do AI images look like my real product?
With Match my real product turned on, Mercury sends your product photo as a reference, so the shape, colors and details stay faithful while the scene changes. Turn it off for purely conceptual imagery.
When do my monthly limits reset?
On the first day of each calendar month (UTC). Your current usage is shown on the dashboard and in the sidebar.
Can I edit on my phone?
Yes. On smaller screens the editor uses a bottom toolbar. Tap Sections to reorder, Edit to change the selected section, and Media to swap images.
